Choosing a Korean cleanser: look beyond the foam
Compare the cleansing job, current ingredient list and after-wash feel before choosing your next cleanser.

Gel, oil, balm or foam: the format is only the start of a cleanser decision. Look at the makeup or sunscreen you remove, the directions on the product, and how the rest of your routine is arranged. A useful comparison begins with those everyday details, not a dramatic before-and-after photograph.
The considered take: A cleanser should fit the way you use it. Foam volume and a squeaky finish are not useful quality scores.
Decide what you need to remove
Write down an ordinary day rather than an ideal one. Do you wear makeup? Is your sunscreen water resistant? Does your current remover have clear directions? That information helps you ask a more precise product question than simply looking for the strongest cleanser.
A separate first cleanse can be a practical option for some routines, but it is not an automatic requirement for everybody. Match the process to your products and comfort.
Read the formula, not just the front label
A cleanser may contain exfoliating ingredients, botanical extracts or fragrance components alongside its cleansing ingredients. A familiar ingredient name does not describe the whole formula. If you know an ingredient causes you problems, check every product rather than relying on a category label.
Anua’s current US page for its Heartleaf Quercetinol foam lists betaine salicylate, capryloyl salicylic acid and eucalyptus leaf oil. That is a reason to compare the current pack carefully, not to assume that every heartleaf product is the same. [2]
Keep the washing technique simple
The AAD recommends lukewarm water, fingertips rather than scrubbing tools, and gentle drying. A dramatic lather is not a reason to rub harder. [1]
Read the amount and rinse directions on your own product. Do not invent a long contact time to chase a more intensive result. Keep the product away from areas its label tells you to avoid.
Make a useful comparison note
Record the product name, pack size, directions and how it feels after rinsing. If you test another option, keep those same comparison points. This is more informative than deciding from the first impression of a scent or package.
A persistently uncomfortable wash is a reason to reconsider the product and seek advice where needed. Adding more layers afterwards should not be the only way your routine feels tolerable.

A few useful questions
Does more foam mean a better clean?
Foam appearance alone does not tell you whether a cleanser suits your routine.
Is every heartleaf cleanser suitable for sensitive skin?
No ingredient or product family guarantees suitability. Check the complete formula and your own known sensitivities.
